Fuel

There are two types of leaf blowers that are available in the market. Some models are electric, which are either powered by an electrical supply or by a portable battery. Most of the powerful ones, however, are gas-powered. In the case of the latter, if it won’t start, one of the many possible problems could be the fuel.

The first thing that you have to do is to check the fuel. If it is empty, obviously, the unit will not start. To add, a stale fuel can also be the culprit. Contamination in the fuel may hinder the equipment from functioning. Refill the tank with clean gas. Depending on the type of the leaf blower that you have, there are also instances wherein you need to combine gas with oil.

Meanwhile, if you are using an electric leaf blower, you have to check with your power source. The voltage or wattage may not be sufficient based on what is required by the equipment. In the case of a battery, on the other hand, make sure that it is fully-charged.

Spark Plug

The spark plug is one of the most important components of a leaf blower. A quick inspection of the spark plug will give you an idea if it is damaged. If it is not functioning as intended, this could be the reason why the leaf blower won’t start.

One of the most common problems in spark plugs is that they can crack over time. It is also possible that there is a burnt electrode. The buildup of carbon in the spark plug can also lead to damage. If there is any indication of wear and tear, it is about time to consider a replacement for the spark plug.

It will also help to perform a quick spark plug test. You can use a spark plug tester and see if the terminals are creating a spark. Do this in an area that is dark so that you can see the sparks. If it does not create a spark, you need to change the plugs.

If the filter is dirty or clogged, it will be impossible for the air to keep moving. Dust and other particles can be the reasons for this clogging.

One of the best things that you can do is to regularly inspect the air filters and clean it as you deem necessary. In most models, you need to wash the filter with soap and mild detergent at least once after every 15 hours.
